The final section of the La Leona hike takes you directly into the river. You must wear a life jacket to navigate the narrow gorge. The vivid blue water gets its color from volcanic minerals dissolved in the river.

You cross through the canyon by swimming and using safety ropes. Independent access is prohibited. Your certified local guide stays close to help you safely handle the water sections.
